Look beyond the asking price

Compare the costs you can document

Put two exact timeshare interests side by side. Use current invoices and written closing or transfer information, then turn the gaps into questions.

Use US dollars for both interests, with no more than two decimal places. Commas and a leading $ are optional. Maximum per entry: $100,000,000. Add together the applicable charges within each category and avoid counting the same charge twice. Do not enter personal or account information.

Interest A

Identify the interest, rather than a general resort price.

Use frequency does not determine how often a bill is due.

Charges due in the first year

Enter the price for this exact interest.

Include applicable closing, transfer and one-time acquisition charges.

Use the full first-year invoice amount, including applicable fees and taxes. Do not annualize this entry.

Enter confirmed first-year assessments separately. Blank means unknown; zero means confirmed none.

Ongoing recurring invoice

Use one complete recurring invoice. Include applicable recurring taxes/fees once; exclude separate assessments.

Choose what the bill covers. A biennial use right can still have an annual invoice.

This is an entered-charge worksheet, not a total ownership budget or valuation. The first-year figure adds only the four categories entered above. The annual-equivalent figure divides one recurring invoice by the years it covers, rounded to cents; it is not a forecast or a promise of how you will be billed. Neither figure includes future increases or assessments, financing, travel, exchange/booking charges not included in your invoices, or other unentered costs. Different use rights and points programs are not equivalent because their numbers or costs look similar.

Source and scope

The FTC’s guidance on timeshares and vacation clubs recommends reviewing the full costs and the terms of the specific ownership. Source checked October 25, 2026. The arithmetic here is based entirely on your entries; the source does not verify a listing, invoice or business fee.
